Autumn Term 2021
In our topic ‘You, me and Everyone’ we have been learning about people’s jobs in our community. This week we were lucky enough to have a visit from PC Mike and PC Steph. They told us all about their jobs, how their uniform keeps them safe and about all the gadgets they have to wear. We then went outside and looked at their police car. We noticed the patterns and symbols on it and they even put the flashing light on for us.
Our topic this term is Me, You and Everyone and we have been studying the artist Pablo Picasso and how he looks at himself and creates self portraits. We looked closely at ourselves in particular our features and created Picasso inspired portraits, using media and materials such as playdough, paints and printing. We have asked our parents/carers to send in photographs of their family members and the children have created frames to put these in.
Spring Term 2020
This term our topic is all about dinosaurs! The children are really enjoying learning all about the different dinosaur names and habitats and are learning new vocabulary such as omnivore, carnivore and herbivore.
The children have also really enjoyed creating dinosaur eggs at home. A big congratulations to our winners Alice, Xander and Mille and also a big well done to all those children who took part! As well as decorating eggs the children also rolled some hard boiled eggs in our outdoor area. Well done to Oliver and Freddie for been the best rollers!
Next we will be learning about what fossils are and making our own fossils with clay. The children will be transforming into archeologists and digging for bones. Watch this space to see what we can find!
Autumn Term 2019
Well done Frank for your amazing pumpkin design using 2d shapes! You are the winner!
As the children are settling into Nursery, we are working on making new friends, sharing with our friends, following rules and routines and our listening skills. Our topic this term is ‘Stories and Rhyme. We started by looking at the children’s favourite stories and shared them with the class. We then went on to read ‘Dear Zoo’ and made our own zoo animals and acted out the story in various ways. We even received our own special box from the zoo, with Pepper the dog inside!
Next we enjoyed reading ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt.’ We made binoculars and went on our own Bear Hunt both inside and outside the classroom. We got very muddy and wet walking through the thick squelching mud! Our classroom has now been changed and ready for ‘The Tiger Who Came to Tea.’ We are going to have our own tea party and bring along our favourite teddy to join in the fun with us. After that we are planning to also read ‘The Smartest Giant in Town’ and finish off with a well-known favourite, ‘The Gruffalo.’
