Message from Miss Emson
We are almost at the end of this half term and what a busy one it has been! There’s so much news in this week’s newsletter! I just want to outline a few reminders before you get on to looking at all the wonderful things your children have been doing this week.
Please be mindful of where you are parking when dropping off and picking up. We have a very busy road and no designated crossings. No one should be parking on the zig-zags at all. Thank you for your support with this. Flu vaccine consent has been extended so if you haven’t managed to do yours yet and it’s something you want to do then an email was sent out with the information. And finally, just a note about attendance. We are well aware there has been a sharp rise in cold and flu-like symptoms often presenting as covid initially and whilst we don’t want anything spreading unnecessarily we are asking if your child is off for more than 3 days for being ‘unwell’ then they see a doctor. It is important all absences are reported by phoning the office. Just to remind you that school begins at 8:50. If children are late this will affect their attendance. If your child arrives after 8:50 they are late. After half term, letters will be sent out regarding attendance to those with less than 95%. And my final message is a thank you to everyone that has been using the parent pay app this term. Lots of you have secured a place for your child at this year’s pantomime. There’s still plenty of time to pay for this. Enjoy your weekends!

What have we been learning this week?
Nursery and Reception

In our topic ‘You, me and Everyone’ we have been learning about people’s jobs in our community. This week we were lucky enough to have a visit from PC Mike and PC Steph. They told us all about their jobs, how their uniform keeps them safe and about all the gadgets they have to wear. We then went outside and looked at their police car. We noticed the patterns and symbols on it and they even put the flashing light on for us.
Mrs Cox
Year 3 have been studying Ancient Greece and have learnt about the story of the Trojan horse. They have created their own Trojan horses.
Mrs Brown
Year 2 have been learning how to use the paint programme in ICT and this week we added some text.
In science we learnt about the harmful effects of deforestation and how this impacts on animals.
We completed our boats in Art and tested them at home and they were very successful!
Year 6
Year 6 have worked hard on practice SATs papers this week and were given a treat of bacon sandwiches on Thursday morning.
