Message from Mrs Emson

We have reached the end of what has been an incredibly busy, yet rewarding half term.  I have been exceptionally proud of the children, staff, and you, our parents for ensuring this term has run as smoothly as possible.  Some of you have enquired about clubs and after-school provisions.  Whilst I wanted to look at this as starting after half term, we have decided to develop a more bespoke offer for children which will begin in January – this will not be how it was before Covid -19.

Thank you to all of you who are now using parent pay to order lunches, book in the breakfast club, and book the pantomime.  If you are not yet using it, please come in to see Mrs. Howlett.

As the weather is turning colder, please make sure your child has extra layers for PE. The PE kit is dark jogging bottoms or sports trousers and not leggings . Also please can you supply a dark coloured sweatshirt or hoodie for PE lessons so children are not wearing their school jumpers for PE lessons.

Please don’t forget we are now on Twitter @PrimaryGreat and would like you to join us in celebrating the fabulous things that happen daily at this school.  After half term, each class will have its own account and there will be much more content. When we come back after the half-term breaks the nights will be getting darker so please can we ensure children are picked up promptly.  School begins again on Monday 1st November – children must be in school for 8:50 am.
I wish you all a safe, and happy half-term break.

What have we been learning this week?

Miss Baxter

In science we have been learning all about Earth and Space. This week we were learning about the Sun, Earth and moon. We learnt that planet Earth orbits the Sun and at the same time the moon orbits the Earth. We also learnt that it takes the Earth a year to orbit the Sun and approximately 28 days for the moon to orbit Earth. To help us understand how it works we worked in pairs to make models showing how they all move and orbit one another. We all worked really hard and Miss Baxter was very impressed with the models we created!

Year 1 and 2 Pumpkin Scoop

On Thursday, the parents of Year 1 and 2 children were invited in to help scoop out a pumpkin for their children to carve. We have had some incredible pumpkin designs and the children loved the event. Thank you to all of the parents for taking part.
