Message from Miss Emson

Thank you to all of our parents for making this year’s World Book Day a truly memorable one! I am overwhelmed with not only efforts in fancy dress, but participation in the hat making competition and the book selfie competition on Twitter. The children have had a fabulous day and the work produced is phenomenal. Our caterers provided a tea party style lunch, which was enjoyed by all. The turn out of parents at this afternoon’s book sale was also incredible and shows how we are all working together to support the children in their reading journeys. That is all from me this week as I will leave you to enjoy the glory of this week’s newsletter. If you are not already following us on Twitter, make sure you do as this is how we publicise the GREAT in Great Coates!

Emma Emson – Principal.

Safeguarding and Well-being

Parking on Yellow lines

Please can we remind parents that is is against the law to stop on the yellow lines in front of school. It creates hazards for children and parents entering and leaving the school grounds and causes congestion around the school. We have a large car park, which can be accessed through John Whitgift Academy.

Earrings – No-earrings except small studs are allowed in school. We have had a small number of children with hoop earrings in school. These present a Health and Safety risk to the children. If we deem that your child’s earrings are unsafe we will ask the child to remove them or telephone parents to ask them to remove them. No jewellery is to be worn in school including friendship bracelets.

No earrings at to be worn for PE.

Below are our expectations on uniform which will also serve as a reference throughout the year.
